The Carpenter of Choras is actually two people; one works in the Middle Ages, and his descendant works in present times. While the elder aspires during 600 A.D. to repair the Northern Ruins, his tools were lost. Crono borrows his descendant's tools to this end, and the Carpenter and his fellows complete repairs for a nominal fee. Both are legendary drunks, though this designation was lost in the English translation.
