Mitsuda: Yes! I ordered them to play a song when I finished my message. My message was a comment that softly said, "I'm going on a trip to pursue my next goal...in other words, I might quit the company" (lol). (laughs) It was a comment that hinted at that kind of thing. I wanted the song "MITSUDA" to be played at the end of the song as a way of saying, "That's a joke. Oh, yes, I remember now. But they didn't do that, did they? He said, "You can't just play music! (laughs). (laughs) I was still a lowly employee at the time.... (laughs) I was still in the lower ranks at the time, so... They didn't play it, so it became no longer a joke... (laughs)

General Information

Composed by: Yasunori Mitsuda
Time Signature: Not applicable

This track was not used until the PSX rerelease, where it became a fanfare for the Extras menu.

From Chrono Trigger Ultimania, translated by Lorenz:

  • By the way, there is a song called “MITSUDA” in the Music Room of the Gallery (see page 569) that doesn’t seem to be used anywhere in the game…

Mitsuda: You see I originally made that song to be used in the Developers’ Room (see page 562). I had heard that you can do whatever you want in the Developer’s Room, so I was going to have that song play when my comment came up. However, in the end it wasn’t used [smiles].

He also discussed it in August 2015 - 2083 Interview with Yasunori Mitsuda:

(laughs)

(laughs) So that's how it was. (laughs) Oh, by the way, Mr. Mitsuda, after you talked in the development room, you went away, didn't you?

Mitsuda: Yes, yes, he even did that. I said, "Please don't let me come back. I joked around a little bit and put in a song called "MITSUDA" for that purpose. I don't remember the rest of the songs, though.
