Gato is a combat training robot created by Lucca for the Millennial Fair. Equipped with a punching bag in his belly, he sings a memorable ditty and welcomes any challengers to fight for silver points.
Gato was created by Hironobu Sakaguchi, as revealed in the Chrono Trigger: The Perfect interview. Mitsuda recounted: During development, you could get gold for defeating Gonzales [Gato], but due to a change in specifications, it became points. Because of this, the melody I had written to match "gold" no longer matched (cry). [Yasunori Mitsuda]
Chrono Cross[edit]
Gato can be seen seriously injured in Lucca's Orphanage, and he dies (or fizzles out) after he informs Serge of the events at hand.
Name Origin[edit]
Gato is Spanish for cat.
